While thousands of pre-schoolers would instantly name Peppa Pig as one of their favourite TV heroes, Daddy Pig has become a bit of a star in his own right, especially with the grown-up viewers (including me!). He’s a great character who has come out with some brilliant one-liners, including :
· "Ah! What a nice day for doing...nothing!"
· "Leave it to me! I am the DIY expert of the house!"
· "Thank goodness I don't have to exercise, I'm naturally fit!"
· "This tummy is pure muscle!"
· "To jump in a puddle, I must think like a puddle!"
If that sounds like the daddy in your house, you may like to know that ASDA have an exclusive range of Daddy Pig-themed Father's Day gifts on their shelves. Even better, they have pocket money prices that your little Peppa Pig fans will be able to afford by raiding their (Peppa) piggy bank. The exclusive range of all-new Daddy Pig products includes a My Daddy book (£5.99) and Champion Daddy Pig DVD (£5) for the little ones and for the Dads there is a wide range of merchandise including Father’s Day cards (£2) and giftwrap, cufflinks (£5), ties, handkerchiefs, lounge pants, pyjamas, trunks, slippers (£10), mugs (£4), keyrings (£1) and boxers (£6).
We received the DVD and book to review and they both got a great reception from The Madhouse Mini-testers. The DVD features ten stories : Champion Daddy Pig, Secret Club, The New House, Basketball, Horsey Twinkle Toes, Naughty Tortoise, Shadows, Mr Fox's Shop, The Blackberry Bush, Mummy Rabbit's Bump, plus a bonus episode of Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom. The My Daddy book is also great fun, especially as we kept recognising Madhouse Daddy in the things Peppa loves about her dad ! The one that definitely applies to him is : "My Daddy says he likes to keep in shape ALL of the time... But his favourite exercise is lifting the remote control" !
This Father’s Day, Daddy Pig will also front a Read with Daddy Pig campaign in partnership with Ladybird Books which aims to encourage fathers to read with their children. Reading packs will be free to download from www.ladybird.com/peppapig where families can access Top Tips, activity sheets, bookmarks and a certificate.
If you're looking for something a bit more traditional in the Father's Day gifts department, you may prefer their "I Love My Dad" range.
Or you could massage his ego with the "No 1 Best Ever Dad" collection. The pint glass costs £3 but the mugs start at just £1 so however stingy you are with their pocket money, your kids will be able to feel proud that they can spoil their daddy with their own money !
My personal fave is this Super Dad toast stamp which would be a great way to start the day with a smile, especially as it only costs £1.
The great news is, you can just throw them in your trolley as you're doing the shopping at ASDA so there's no excuse for forgetting that little something to make dad's day !
Disclosure : We received a few of the gifts in order to write an honest review.
