As a parent, our biggest job is to keep our little ones safe....but what about the dangers that aren’t always so obvious to see? Domestic fires pose one of the greatest risks to children, so one of the most important things you can do is to make sure that you have a working smoke alarm, on every level of your home.
To celebrate this year’s National Child Safety Week, which runs from 24th June – 30th June, Ei Electronics, UK Market Leader in domestic fire safety products, will be giving away 5 digital, wireless, twin smoke alarms from its SmarkLink range to Madhouse Family Reviews readers. Just fill in the Rafflecopter widget below for your chance to win.
Using digital wire free technology, the SmartLink system allows all alarms in the system to ‘talk’ to each other – when one sounds, they all sound, offering an instant warning.
In addition to protecting your family and home with smoke alarms, Ei Electronics also offers some fire safety measures you can take to keep your children safe:
- Keep matches, lighters and candles in a place where children can’t see or reach them
- Put a child-proof fireguard in front of an open fire or heater
- Don’t let children play or leave toys near a fire or heater
- Keep portable heaters in a safe place
- Never leave children alone in the kitchen when you’re cooking
- Ensure electrical appliances are always switched off when they are not in use.
- It is also very important to talk to children about the dangers of fire and explain what to do, should a fire occur. Children need to know how to react, as there may not always be an adult around to tell them what to do should a fire start.
- Plan an escape route and make sure than everyone in the house is familiar with it, including children, childminders and babysitters. Keep all exists clear and practise the escape plan with children. Teach your children about the Fire & Rescue Service and how they can contact them. Also make sure that children are taught their home address from a young age, it will enable them to raise the alarm.
UK only. Closing date : 11/7/13
T & C's : Entries close at midnight on the closing date. Winners will be selected with a random number generator and announced on facebook, twitter and in the giveaway post subject line. Please note, you will be contacted by email and/or twitter and if I haven't heard from you after a week, I'll have to pick another winner. Prizes will be sent out by the companies or their PR directly to winners.
