Interplay My Style Pick 'n' Mix Jewellery kit review

We've been lucky enough to review several products from Interplay's range of craft kits, and each time we have been really impressed with the items that the girls manage to create. We've successfully tried making Japanese Best Friend Dolls, Union Jack cushions, Shamballa jewellery and I'm sure there are more that my search box isn't picking up on ! This time, Sophie's eyes lit up when I handed her the Design & Make Pick 'n' Mix Jewellery kit.

First she unpacked all the contents and was very impressed with the huge amount of felt strips and other assorted odds and ends.

I wasn't going to count them all, so I checked on the box - there are 120 Felt Strips x 8 colours, 170 Felt Squares x 8 colours, Toothpicks, Organza Ribbon, Stretch Jewellery Cord, Black Jewellery Cord, Jump Rings, Clasps, Clamshell Clasps, Ear Hooks, and the all-important 24 page colour instruction booklet, showing you step-by-step how to make it all. The contents are enough to make eight pieces of jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

It's actually quite a simple kit to use (compared to some !) because it relies on self-adhesive felt that you roll and press into the Licorice Allsort shapes.

Even with her poor bandaged thumb, which made her a bit cack-handed, Sophie managed to create this fab pair of earrings without too many problems - I just helped her open and close the little metal jump rings but she did all the "sweet" making herself.

Once her thumb has healed up (she somehow managed to cut a great gash in it when we were out doing St Martin celebrations last week - no idea how, just by running her hand across a metal barrier), she will definitely be coming back to this kit to make the rest of the jewellery. She thought it was great fun and the designs are really funky.
