Little Miss and Mr Men Leather Booties from Fabric Flavours

Last year I reviewed a gorgeous retro-style Mr Bump babygrow (here) from Fabric Flavours, a company which specialises in quirky, colourful, vintage-style baby clothing. Their 70's and 80's inspired designs really appeal to me, reminding me of my own childhood, but I was also highly impressed by the quality of the product.

Well, they've done it again ! They've just sent me a pair of these ultra-cute Mr Men leather booties to review and they're gorgeous. Ultra cute but also ultra-comfortable, I can't help but smile every time I see them and Pierre is the same ! He keeps pointing at the Mr Happy saying "da" and grinning !

I foresaw two problems with these booties - I thought they would be skiddy and keep falling off - but I was wrong on both counts. The elasticated bit at the ankle keeps them on really well - Pierre even manages to pull his trousers off at naptime and they still stay on his feet ! - but doesn't cut into the skin or leave red marks. The soles are made of soft suede but don't slip around, even on lino or wooden stairs. Pierre may be 19 months old but he hasn't been walking for very long so I wasn't sure how he'd get on without the ankle support of his proper walking shoes - well, he gaily trots around and certainly doesn't fall over any more than when he's wearing his sturdy boots.

The Mr Men design is appliqué and is very firmly attached. The booties are also dyed using environmentally-friendly and  non-toxic products so they're perfectly safe if your little one decides to put his toes in his mouth (or is it just Pierre that does that ?!)

They'd make an absolutely perfect gift, which would be appreciated equally by baby and mum (especially if she's a child of the 70's/80's !)

star rating : 5/5

RRP : £14 (Sizes: 6-12 months and 12-18 months)

  1. When I was a little girl I used to love the Mr Men. I had all the mini book (Little Miss too) and watched the cartoons on tv. It is a shame the cartoons still arent on? The reason I think they were so popular is because we could all relate to one and each Mr Man/Little Miss had their own story. The little slippers are lovely - it is just such a shame little ones feet grow so quick. I have four children and I started to put away my fave pairs of booties (half of them looked unworn as they grew out of them so fast). Then not so long ago I forced myself to donate some of them to the local charity shop. I kept each of my children's very first booties though and gave the rest away - it gave me a boost knowing they'd go to good homes and get 'used' rather than just staying in a box in my loft x

  3. I totally agree with what you're saying, I have a pair of these (for my son, not me, sadly) and they're great. We have some laminate flooring and these booties aren't slippy.

  4. Have you seen the Moccis review Lynn ? http://madhousefamilyreviews.blogspot.com/2010/03/moccis.html They're similar and come in adult sizes ! I thought they'd be slippy too but they're not either.
