Giggle Buddies review

It's a sign of the times that these days, as soon as a child picks up a soft toy, the first thing they do is press its tummy, hands and feet to see what it does, expecting music, lights or voices - or quite possibly all three ! Well, these Giggle Buddies won't disappoint.

As you can see from the picture, there are four different animals available - pig, frog, gorilla and dog - and we were pleased to have the opportunity of giving a pig a new home !

Sophie immediately picked it up and started cuddling it because it's so soft and snuggly, even just as a regular soft toy. But the clever part is that it contains a motion sensor in its stomach so that when you wave your hand in front of them, they start shaking, spinning round and giggling with an infectious laugh.

2-year-old Pierre loves dancing in front of him clapping his hands so that he starts laughing and invariably ends up laughing along. The grown ups have also been having fun, hiding him behind doors or sitting him in corners so he'll start laughing and jumping around, making unsuspecting passers-by jump (which is funnier after one too many Christmas Day Baileys, admittedly !).

If the giggling gets a bit much, you'll be pleased to know that you can easily turn them off so they'll just sit quietly in the corner. (Unfortunately, you won't be able to do this with your kids too, which is a shame !) The Giggle Buddies need 3 AA batteries so make sure you stock up on those at the same time as you buy your toy.
