Jumble Bee dried fruit and nuts review

After eating our way through (almost !) all of the festive food and nibbles that we'd bought in the run up to Christmas, I came across these bags of dried fruit and nut mixes that we'd been sent to sample from Jumble Bee and that had been buried at the bottom of the drinks/snacks hamper ! It's actually great timing for them to resurface because they are perfect for guilt-free snacking that won't wreck my New Year's resolutions.

The first bag contains Juicy Jumbo Raisins and Almonds. The name says it all - they're bigger than your average raisins and they're lovely and sweet and moist, unlike some brands that are dried up and rubbery. The almonds taste fresh and have retained some nice crunch. The Madhouse kids were very intrigued by the yellow raisins in the pack.

Next up, the Fabulous Fruit & Nut Mix with Pecans, which is a great mix of  raisins, dried cranberries, brazil nuts, almonds, sultanas, pecans and dried apricots. I love the variety of flavours and the fact that when you dip in, you never know what you're going to pick out next. These are lovely sprinkled on cereal, porridge, salads and flapjacks (or just nibbling in front of the telly !)

And finally, Tempting Tropical Mix, my favourite because it's so sweet and varied in flavours and textures. It's a mixture of  raisins, dried papaya, dried pineapple, banana chips, brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, cashew nuts and dried coconut so you get a real mixture of sweet chewiness (pineapple/papaya/raisins), earthy crunch (nuts and seeds) and sweet crunch (banana chips), as well as mellow coconut strips. Utterly divine and I can't resist dipping in every time I walk past the bag !

They're all great for healthy grazing in front of the TV when you get the munchies or for putting in the kids' lunchboxes, but they can also be incorporated into sweet and savoury dishes. I added a couple of handfuls of the Tempting Tropical Mix to a chicken curry (click here if you want the Leftover-Friendly Mild Fruity Curry recipe) which took it to another level.
