SentoSphere Shampoo Lab review

As soon as the postie delivered this Shampoo Lab from French company SentoSphere, I knew that Sophie would absolutely love it. It contains everything you need to create your own shampoos and conditioners at home, including the bottles and the ingredients.

Sophie was over the moon and instantly started unpacking everything. It's an ingenious kit, combing scientific discovery and crafts and Sophie was fascinated to learn just what goes into a bottle of shampoo or conditioner.

You get the basic "recipes" for creating shampoo and conditioner, as well as the measuring implements (drippers and jugs) and pretty bottles, but you also get to pick and mix the colours and fragrances of choice.

Even for 10-year-old Sophie on her own, the instructions were simple to follow. As two of the bottles are twice as big as the "standard" smaller one, it's also good practise of rudimentary maths as you need to double up all the measurements to make double the quantity and fill them up.

Sophie had great fun choosing the fragrance/colour of each bottle and I was reassured to see that it's all made with non-irritant plant extracts and has been medically tested. The full contents of the kit are : 100 ml of foaming coconut extract, 100ml of oats emulsifier, 1 pot of conditioning plant fibres, 1 pot of emulsifying wax for conditioner, lavender and lemon essentiam oils, fruity floral fragrance, 2 beakers, 3 droppers, 1 spatula, 1 instruction leaflet.

The contents of the kit enable you to create about 700 ml of shampoo and120 ml of conditioner.

Sophie proudly put her creations in the bathroom for everyone to use. The products smell lovely and are very gentle on the hair, although the kids (who are used to the "no tears" formula of their usual shampoo) did find that it stung if it got in their eyes.

This is a brand new kit so you may have trouble finding it in the UK at the moment but it's available on French amazon already, and I'm sure it will soon be added to the UK store too.

  1. This looks great fun - but it would probably end up as a huge mess with my kids around - well done, your end products look beautiful.
