After the huge success of relaxing colouring books for adults in recent years, art therapy for children is set to be the next big thing. We received one of the Cool & Calm Colouring For Kids books from Carlton Kids to review with the theme of Magical Fairies.
The book contains 21 scenes to colour and as the paper is nice and thick, you can use coloured pencils or felt tips without worrying about the ink leaking through to the other side.
The illustrations, by Eugenie Varone, are packed with details and will delight children of all ages, and even grown ups.
You'll find dreamy fairy mermaids, magical woodland creatures, unicorns and dragons, amongst other things.
The most exciting feature of this book, though, are the pages of stickers at the end that you can colour in and add to your pictures. There are 190 stickers to choose from and, although you are free to stick them wherever you like (inside or outside of the colouring book), the book gives you guidance in terms of which page they are designed for and also, on the first page, some ideas for places you could stick them within the colouring scenes.
Juliette has enjoyed adding some stickers to the book but also saving some for decorating her school books and bedroom. It's a lovely quiet activity that children will enjoy and it's a great way of keeping them off their screens for a while !
Also available in the series are : Fantastic Fashion, Colour By Numbers, Incredible Animals, Baby Animals, Creative Colouring & Dot-to-Dots and My Mandalas.
