If you're in your late thirties or early forties, the chances are, you look at Cindy Crawford and think, how does she do it ? If you look at the photos of her then and now, she looks just as good as she did 15 years ago - that's just not fair ! I personally think she actually looks better now than she did in her supermodel days, with a slightly fuller face.
So, what's her secret ? Well, according to the Meaningful Beauty website, "Her secret is French anti-ageing specialist Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh and his revolutionary "Age Maintenance" approach to skin care. Since first experiencing the dramatic results of his youth-enhancing treatments over 15 years ago, she's been a fan, friend and client of this world famous skin specialist." Am I convinced ? Well, I'd like to be - it's so much more reassuring and down-to-earth than the usual celeb chemical peels, Botox and cosmetic surgery. Let's just say that when I was given the chance to try out the Meaningful Beauty skin products, I didn't just jump - I pole vaulted - at the chance ! After all, the range is described as "the advanced European anti-ageing system that Cindy Crawford trusts to keep her skin looking youthful and vibrant".
The kit comes in a clear polythene washbag that is great for travelling, especially as it's waterproof so will avoid any leaks in your suitcase, but the little bottles and tubes look so snazzy and impressive that I lined all mine up on the shelf under the bathroom mirror ! The sleek white and silver packaging looks very upmarket and almost clinical, like you've bought the range from a top medically-trained skin specialist.
The kit contains : 60ml Skin Softening Cleanser (detoxifying, gentle, non-irritating), 15ml Maintenance 1 Day Crème (Daily Moisture with SPF8), 15ml Maintenance 2 Night Fluide (Repair and Rebalance), 7.5ml Lifting Eye Crème (to tighten and revitalize), 14g Décolleté & Neck Crème (Condition and Restore), 20ml Facial Masque (Purifying, Rejuvenating, Illuminating) and 5ml Travel Size Glowing Serum (Skin Revitalizing Serum - Brighten and Revitalize).
The bottles, tubes and tubs aren't huge but a little goes a long way. I don't really have a complicated skincare routine, just removing makeup and slapping on cream at night and in the morning, but I decided to give the kit a proper trial and used all of the products once or twice a day, as indicated. The cleanser is lovely and gentle and gives you really clean-feeling skin without the usual dryness these kind of products normally create. The creams sink instantly into the skin without leaving any greasy residue and they immediately stop any sensation of tightness or dryness. They don't really smell of anything much, which is a bit of a shame, but does mean they are hypoallergenic.
So did I suddenly look like Cindy Crawford ?! Sadly, no, but I had no doubt that would take more than a few lotions and potions ! However, my skin did look and feel really good, despite the cold, wind and rain at the moment which leave it feeling dried out, tight and tingly. One of my work colleagues told me that "she could tell the holidays had done me good, I looked really refreshed and energised" but as the kids were up at 6.30am every day as usual, I think that probably has more to do with the skincare regime than half term ! I've only ever had a facial about three times in my entire life but after using the whole range of products in the kit, my skin had that "just out of the beauty salon" feel to it.
Taking into account the high quality skin care products, the scientific research and the celebrity name, I was expecting these products to be way out of my usual price range, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the affordable price tag. You can get the whole kit for £29.99 and, on top of that, they offer a 60-day money back guarantee if you're not totally satisfied. If you're looking for a stylish Christmas gift for any "women of a certain age", one of these kits would certainly go down much better than the usual lavender scented bath salts !
