Liv It's My Nature Maple Lodge

There are a multitude of reasons why I love Liv dolls (and if you've read my other reviews, you'll know most of them ! ) : they have great wholesome values, detailed storylines, promote natural beauty, come with a fabulous range of accessories that encourage imaginative play, have an amazing 14 points of articulation which mean you can put them in realistic and varied poses, ...

But the thing that stands out for me is that they go so much further in the range of accessories available. With most fashion dolls, you get extra outfits and fashion accessories but much of the time, it stops there. Even if you buy the big add-ons like the luxury car or boat, there isn't much scope for creative play apart from sitting the doll in them and moving them around. By contrast, each Liv doll comes with an original range of accessories, often related to their hobbies and passions.

Well, when I received the Liv It's My Nature Maple Lodge to review, I couldn't believe my eyes ! It's like an Aladdin's cave of accessories that are just begging to be used in a multitude of role play games. It is so detailed, it actually reminds me of a more grown up version of a Playmobil set and, sure enough, as soon as I brought it out, both 5-year-old Juliette (who loves Playmobil) and 9-year-old Sophie (who thinks Playmobil is for babies) were immediately in there, picking up all the little accessories and acting out stories and putting on voices.

The Maple Lodge playset contains a grand total of 30 pieces, including sleeping bags, a table & tree stump chairs, a hammock, copper pots & pans, an oven with a baking tray,  a camera, mugs and - best of all in my opinion ! -a light-up campfire. The lodge opens up to reveal a full kitchen and a lounge/bedroom, perfectly equipped for the Liv girls' eco-adventure. But Liv have thought about parents too so when you've finished playing, you can pack it all away inside and shut it up as a handy storage/carrying case. As a mum, that just makes me love it even more !

  6. Juliette's 5 and loves it. She's been playing with Playmobil and Polly Pocket for ages and it's similar. The Liv dolls are lovely and fresh-faced and not overly sexy so they're great for little girls too.
