Tetley Tea Folk T-shirts (or should that be Tea-shirts ?!)
I defy you to say "Tetley make tea-bags make tea" without putting on a comedy Northern accent ! (Or maybe that's just me !). But either way, I'm sure you all smile fondly thinking of the endearing Tea Folk characters from the adverts. Well, they have now been immortalised in a range of cute and funny Tshirts that are sure to go down well with tea drinkers and lovers of all things quirky and retro.
I have to admit, my initial thought was that these would be cheapie, low quality novelty T-shirts but I couldn't be more wrong ! Tetley have teamed up with Truffle Shuffle, who have been described as "the must-have celebrity t-shirt brand" to create the four unique designs. They're really good quality with lovely soft T-shirts and high quality printing.
I used to love the Tetley Tea Folk in the iconic 70s, 80s and 90’s ads but then they disappeared from our screens ten years ago. But now they're back ! Tea Folk fans all over the nation let out a cheer a few weeks ago when their new advert aired, showing them waking from their decade-long sleep. If you're anything like me, you're now desperately trying to remember their names. I can remember Gaffer who worked his way up from tea boy to being the boss and Tina, starring here as a ‘Page Tea Girl’, but I have to admit I can't remember the names of the other ones. Well, Wikipedia to the rescue - there's Sidney (of course ! How could I forget daft but lovable Sidney ?!), Maurice the inventor, Clarence the Waker-Upper, Gordon the gardener and Gaffer's young nephew, Archie.
As well as being immortalised on the T-shirts and being splashed across tea-lovers' chests (Tea Chests ?!), the Tea Folk also have their own website : http://www.teafolk.co.uk/ . As well as offering you free desktop downloads, they are currently giving away an astounding 40,000 prizes in their on-pack competition. All you need to do is grab a code and you could win one of the 35,000 Tea Folk mugs or 5,100 Tea Folk T-shirts. One lucky winner even won a luxury holiday to South Africa, the home of Tetley Redbush.
