Revell Summer Action Color Glider review

School's out for the summer and it's time to find ways of keeping the kids entertained and away from the screens ! As you can see from the picture, Pierre was very excited to receive a glider kit from Revell to review which is perfect for the holidays.

The first job is painting the polystyrene glider, using the little pots of paint and the brush that are included in the box.

Revell provide some amazing designs for inspiration but they're very ambitious so we just went free-style !

The recommended age is 8+ but , despite only being 5, Pierre managed perfectly well.

Especially as he had a lot of enthusiastic help from his sisters !

This is obviously a kit that appeals to both sexes and all ages (our testers are 5, 9 and almost 13 here at The Madhouse).

I wasn't at all surprised to see that our glider was customised into a One Direction plane !

Now we had to put all the pieces to one side until the paint had dried, then it was just a case of pushing the wings and tail fins into the slots. We had to wait a couple of days because it was too windy, but Pierre kept running to the window to see if the weather was good enough for a test flight. Eventually, his patience was rewarded.

It's great sport because you have to keep running off to collect the glider wherever it lands! It's only made of  polystyrene foam so I thought it would be quite flimsy and break but it's survived quite a few crash landings already and has just lost of small area of paint off the nose.

Even Madhouse Daddy, who was home for lunch, got in on the testing ! You can see how much fun we all had in the video.

The tail fins fall off every single time, so it's a bit of a pain pushing those back in for each new flight (with hindsight, we should have assembled it before painting it, then the paint might have dried like glue to seal the tail fins in place) and it doesn't fly very far (but I think we need more practice), but nevertheless we've had a lot of fun and giggles with it all week.
