Sunday weigh-in : Back in the driving seat

So last Sunday, the scales said 85.6kg (official weigh-in 85.3kg because that was what they'd said on the Saturday) and I decided that Dukan 2, apart from the first amazing week, wasn't actually working any better than what I was doing before. I wanted to go back to eating whatever I wanted when I wanted (I mean sensible stuff, not pigging out, but not worrying about which food groups I should be eating on which days). I tucked into carbs every day (baked potatoes, boiled potatoes, rice, cereal ...), I ate at the canteen every day and I even treated myself to some chocolate, some of those amazing brownie cookies and some jelly beans. I also balanced things out with some healthy stuff - soup, salad, lots of veggies, ... - so I was chuffed to see that this week, I weighed in at 85.2kg. That's only a 100g loss (or 400g if I take the real Sunday weigh-in figure) but that's a victory because I was wondering if going back to normal eating would be disastrous. So I'm back in the driving seat and making my own food choices day to day, with the option of throwing in a day or a week of Dukan every once in a while to see if I get that "first week" boost that I did the first time.

Positives of the week

- My ring and my watch have been feeling looser, so even if the scales didn't move, something must be happening !

- I've started listening to the SlimPod again and love the sense of positivity it gives me

Current targets

Last week's target : Don't focus on specific food groups, just get back to overall healthy eating. Get active again. Dust off the SlimPod. Focus on healthy habits, not the number on the scales. (DONE)

This week's targets : Keep making good choices and listening to the SlimPod. Throw in one session of sport. C'mon, bring on the 84 point somethings !

Short-term targets 21kg to lose sounds a lot but breaking it down, aiming for 1kg a week, that's only about 5 months - plenty of time for heading off to Turkey in August !

first target, get my "weight to lose" badge down into the 40's (it's currently on 51lb) (done),
second goal - get back to 85.9kg, my pre-xmas weight (done )
third goal : get my "kg lost" badge back into double figures
fourth goal : get my "weight loss" badge higher than my "still to go" badge
fifth goal : get back into my (smallest) bright blue jeans comfortably
sixth goal : get back to 77kg - my lowest weight since my pregnancies

Longer-term targets :  Hit my target weight of 68kg.

START WEIGHT :93.7kg
TARGET WEIGHT : 67.8kg
WEIGHT LAST WEEK  : 85.3kg
WEIGHT TODAY : 85.2kg
WEIGHT LOST SO FAR :  8.6kg
STILL TO GO : 17.1kg
CHANGE THIS WEEK : -0.1kg

  1. I'm going to start on my slimpod again, it's really helped us both in the past, so I look forward to reading how you get on. Good luck xx

  2. Fabulous. I have to say I think making your own food choices rather than following a diet is a better idea (just my opinion), it seems more sustainable and, as you say, puts you back in control

    1. I was intrigued to see how it would work on Dukan 2 but I do like sitting down to the same meals as the rest of the family

    1. Hi Kirsty, I was a total sceptic but that doesn't seem to matter ! Just one piece of advice - keep track of measurements as well as weight because, for some strange reason, you seem to lose inches before the scales show a difference ! Good luck and tell me how you get one :)

  4. I'm going to say yay! I'm very wary of faddy diets, they usually work initially but aren't sustainable. It's great that you're back in the driving seat, I always find it easier when I can just moderate myself, I know in some ways it can be hard but learning to eat anything just in moderation is half of the battle! Good luck for this week.

  5. Glad getting back to normal is working for you chick! Having control over what you eat is great - which is why I prefer calorie counting over Weight Watchers. Hope you are having a great week chick! Thanks for letting me link up and hope you can join in with #WeightLossWednesday this week :) Sim x

  8. Amazing progress, sounds like going back to making your own choices is the right thing for you. I'm sure in the long run it works better as you then just form a habit of eating better and knowing when to give yourself a little treat. You can do it! #weightlosswednesday

  10. It's such a great feeling when one's ring fits better, isn't it! My husband bought me a new wedding ring back in February that I took a few weeks to fit, but it fits perfectly now :)
