Skinny Sketcher drawing kits (review)

Do you have a budding artist in your midst? If so, I've just discovered the perfect stocking filler for them - Skinny Sketchers ! They may look like takeaway coffee cups from a highstreet coffee shop but forget the skinny lattes - Skinny Sketchers (RRP £7.99) contain everything you need to produce fabulous freehand drawings.

Each kit contains step-by-step drawing instructions, tracing paper and a mechanical pencil so they're totally self-contained.

There are numerous themes to suit all tastes and appeal to both sexes. We discovered Dinosaurs ...

Capture The Castle ...

and Butterflies and Blossoms. They are also available in London Flavour, Architecture and The Fast and The Curious themes. They're great for helping children, but also adults, develop their artistic skills and confidence and they're also great for making children work on their concentration, observation, attention to detail and fine motor skills while having fun.

As soon as I saw them, I thought they were a great idea - especially with Christmas on the way but also for keeping kids entertained on long journeys. I was impressed to learn how they came about.  Mumpreneur Gillian Logan showed off her concept at last year’s launch event of the Inventors Workshop and was signed on the spot by a major toy company. Her range of Skinny Sketchers was showcased at London Toy Fair just four months later and is now on sale on Amazon as well as gift shops throughout the country. Who needs Dragons' Den ?!

Have I got you thinking now?! Have you got a great invention just begging to be marketed or do you fancy trying your luck at breaking into the industry and making some extra money? If so, you might like to know that this year's Inventors Workshop will be taking place on 22nd September in Northampton. There are morning conference sessions with tips on funding, toy safety, legislations, retail and pitching, then, in the afternoon, the inventors and designers enjoy one to one meetings with toy companies. The ticket price is £129 for the day including lunch and refreshments, but there is a special price of £99 available if you call Georgia Blake on Tel: +44 (0)1992 535646 and quote PR discount £99. You never know, it could be the start of something big !

  1. They look really good. I'm a terrible freehand drawer and would think these are great. (Nice little presents too).
