Vosene Kids - our swimbag essentials ! (review)

Ever since Madhouse Daddy taught her how to swim without armbands on holiday a couple of years ago, Juliette has loved her weekly swimming lessons at school. She loves learning how to do proper strokes and improve her technique. I'm always a bit less keen though, because I have vivid memories of my own swimming lessons at school and remember how rife verrucas were. There wasn't a week that went by without someone wearing one of those waterproof socks or being sent back to the changing rooms after our pre-pool foot inspection !

There's not much that I can do to stave off verrucas but there is something I can do to ward off another common kids' problem - headlice. I've long been a big fan of Vosene Conditioning Defence Spray, which is a nifty spray that contains citronella oil, a natural headlice repellent. I started using it during an outbreak of headlice at the Madhouse kids' primary school and we've been using it ever since as a precaution. I'm pleased to report that they haven't brought home any unwanted guests ever since. (You can read my original review of the product here.)

Vosene recently sent us a trio of their kid-friendly products to try out, including the aforementioned Conditioning Defence Spray (RRP £2.54, 150ml) and also the accompanying 3-in-1 shampoo (RRP £2.54, 250ml). It contains tea tree and lemon eucalyptus oils, which are also both natural headlice repellents, but also promises squeaky clean and tangle-free hair. We love it - it has a fresh, pleasant fragrance and leaves the kids' hair feeling soft and clean.

I use both of these regularly on the kids' hair at bathtime but the one that now makes its way into Juliette's swimbag every week is the After Swim Hair & Body Wash (RRP £2.50, 200ml), which is designed to cleanse scalp and skin as well as remove chlorine and other impurities. I love the fact that Juliette comes home with her hair smelling fresh and fruity with a melon fragrance rather than chlorine stink. It's just a shame that I can't say the same about the contents of her swim bag !

The whole range has had a makeover and the Madhouse kids love the new bottles. The cute fruity characters are fun but not too babyish. All importantly, what's on the inside hasn't changed though.
