Erlenbacher Premium Apple Pie review

Apple pie makes the world go round. Well, OK, it doesn't actually, but there's something very comforting and satisfying about a slice of juicy, sweet but slightly tart appley goodness. You can even kid yourself that it's a healthy option because it's got fruit in it ! It's a simple dessert to throw together but it's actually quite difficult to make it look sophisticated and pretty. That's exactly what Erlenbacher have achieved with their Premium Apple Pie though, so we made very short work of the slices that we were sent to review.

This review barely needs words - just look at the photo below. I defy you to take in the depth of filling, the soft but slightly firm chunks of apple and the perfectly crisp base and not drool !

Erlenbacher's Premium Apple Pie is made with a short crust pastry base and filled with 70% fruit content, made with fresh Cripps Pink Apples for the ultimate sweet and tangy taste. All of Erlenbacher's recipes use only natural ingredients, with no hydrogenated fats and oils, no added preservatives, no artificial colourants and no artificial flavourings. It looks and tastes homemade - you could easily pass it off as one you made yourself, if you were so minded !

Their story started over 40 years ago with an apple cake and today, they offer around 200 variations of premium frozen cakes and desserts. Having seen (and tasted) how utterly delicious and decadent their Premium Apple Pie is, I will definitely be looking into what else they have on offer ! Sadly, you can't buy them in supermarkets though - they are sold in ready to serve slices for the retail trade.
