Today it was supposed to rain, but it looked quite reasonable so I decided to head off to Puythouck, a local nature reserve around a lake, for some walking and - you guessed it ! - geocaching. I asked who wanted to come and Sophie and Pierre said yes.
We started off in the woods and discovered a fitness trail.
Pierre and Sophie had great fun trying it out. At what age does sport stop being fun and start being a chore ?!
We soon got to the coordinates for the first cache. Pierre is really getting into geocaching now and knows all the likely places to look so he just laid down on the bridge and looked underneath - sure enough there it was !
All of the caches on this trail were labelled as small but we all thought they were regular or even large ones.
I decided to drop off a travel bug here and, as it was a Travel Racer, I popped in a soft toy car to go with it !
We had a total of six caches to hunt out and we managed to find all of them.
We exchanged loads of treasures and came home with a little bagful of bits and bobs to share out. I need to have another sift through the bottom of the toyboxes to refill my geocaching backpack !
All of this was in one cache !
Pierre tried out his balance on the wooden beams.
While Sophie got very energetic climbing up a tree to retrive one. She asked me to push her bum up the tree and ended up perched on my shoulder which made me laugh so much, my legs went wobbly and we both nearly fell down the bank !
For the final three, we headed out of the woodland and around the lake. After admiring the windsurfers, we had a quick play on the exercise equipment then headed for home just as the big black rainclouds filled the sky.
Not sure how many more of these geocaching sessions we'll manage to get in while the weather holds, so I'm heading out at every available opportunity. We covered 11km which is great for hitting my steps targets on the FitBug too !
