Just a quick heads-up about Halfords' free bike workshops. Looks like a great way to get the kids away from the screens and learning some useful skills !

This October half term, Halfords is hosting a free bike workshop for children at a number of its stores nationwide.
Over 44,000 children and parents have benefitted from the entry-level version of the workshop that teaches 7-11 year-olds the basics of things to check on their bike. This new session offers children the next level in bike maintenance – ideal for kids who already have some knowledge in this area but are keen to further their education.
Halfords Community and CSR Manager, Emma Thomas, said: ‘This newly developed engaging programme gives kids with a basic knowledge of bike maintenance, repair and safety, the chance to hone their expertise. The free-of-charge workshop is designed to fuel a lifelong passion and interest in cycles with great tips and hints on how to cycle safely throughout the winter months and beyond.’
The interactive programme teaches 7-11 year-olds how to adjust brakes and gears, clean their bikes and remove the wheels and there’s great advice on how to keep safe and visible at night and during the darker winter months.
Children who take part in the workshops will receive a certificate, a 15% discount voucher to spend at Halfords and entry into a competition to win a bike. Children must be accompanied by an adult and kids and parents are encouraged to try out the skills they have learnt together on their own bikes at home following the session.
Places are limited so go to www.halfords.com/bikeclub to check availability and to book a space, or speak to a member of the store team.
