Warburtons Baked Naan Chips review

We've reviewed lots of Warburtons products here at the Madhouse but I have to say, I was surprised when the postie dropped off their latest product - Baked Naan Chips. I think of Warburtons as a bakery, producing bread and other baked goods, so seeing two bags of what are essentially crisps arrive was a bit unexpected. With a closer look though, these aren't normal fried crisps - they are baked chips and are made using a naan bread recipe.

Without further ado, we got on to the testing. We received two different flavours, Classic Tikka with a medium heat rating and Fiery Madras with a hot rating, but they also come in mild Creamy Korma flavour. You can tell by Juliette's excited face peeking out from behind the bag how excited the Madhouse Mini-testers were about trying them !

When push came to shove though, they weren't all that keen because they found them too spicy. They did love the crunchiness and the texture of the Baked Naan Chips though and said they'd like to try them in other flavours that weren't necessarily related to curry. I know the Naan theme is Indian but maybe they could do cool creamy raita or poppadom flavour !

The grown-ups loved them though and we didn't actually find them all that spicy, although the heat does build up the more you eat. They contain 33% less fat than regular potato crisps so they're a lighter option and they taste just as lovely, if not lovelier because you don't get the greasiness and they're not overly salty. They're great eaten as a snack, could be used to accompany curry and are also lovely if you crush a few and sprinkle them on top of a bowl of chicken soup.

A typical 30g serving contains 137 calories and 6g of fat, which could be worse !

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : £1.79 for 150g

Classic Tikka and Fiery Madras Baked Naan Chips are now available in Morrisons stores across the UK, and Classic Tikka is also available in all Booths stores

Disclosure : We received two bags of Warburtons Baked Naan Chips in order to write an honest review.
