Meet Glitterbelle, the modern-day princess !

Since time began, little girls have been enchanted by stories of princesses, from the traditional fairy tales by Hans Christian Anderson and The Brothers Grimm through the hordes of Disney princesses on-screen to more modern characters like the cheeky cartoon Little Princess, not forgetting real life princesses such as Princess Diana and more recently Kate Middleton. Parragon Books have a new princess heroine for little girls to love - Glitterbelle, described as a fun, glittery princess for our time.

Glitterbelle is a great role model for little girls. She is a modern-day princess who is smart, funny and very enthusiastic. She loves her parents (the King and Queen), adores her pet dog Bob, enjoys racing around on her scooter and can often be found climbing trees with her best friends Dazzlina and Angel. Like all princesses, Glitterbelle has pretty dresses covered in sequins, but she prefers wearing leggings and her glittery trainers. She sounds just like Juliette, royal parents aside !

Glitterbelle stars in four new books that were released in January and we received two to review.

Glitterbelle Dazzling Dress-up is a girlie, sparkly, fashiontastic sticker extravaganza, with a very impressive 400 fashion stickers to decorate the pages, featuring Glitterbelle and her friends. But that's not all - it also comes with over 30 glittery nail stickers - even tomboys like to look pretty, after all ! The stickers are easy to peel off and stick well to the pages and Juliette loved deciding which clothes to put together to create pretty outfits.

The second title, Glitterbelle Me and You, is described as "a diary all about what makes us US!". It is a lovely padded journal that encourages little girls to unleash their inner (modern) princess and record all their memories and share all their secrets about their friends, dreams and style, while learning more about Glitterbelle. I had a look through with Juliette when it first arrived but I have been told that it is now top secret because she has started filling it in ! It will be a lovely keepsake to look back at and giggle over when she's older.

The other two books available are a Doodle, Dazzle, Create! activity book and a story book, Glitterbelle : The Sparkliest Princess Ever! All four titles retail for £4.99/£5.99 each and they target little girls aged about 6-10.
