It's starting to look a lot like Christmas ! Once Halloween is out of the way (was that really only last week ?!), it's all systems go for anything festive and many of the big companies have launched their Christmas adverts this week. The Coca Cola truck has become an iconic part of Christmas on TV and in real-life as it drives around the country, handing out freebies and spreading Christmas cheer, but this year, Cadbury's have gone not one but twenty-three better in the festive lorry stakes !
In their new Christmas TV advert, which hits the screens for the first time today, Cadbury masterminds the nation’s most joyful advent calendar formed from 24 Cadbury purple trucks, where every truck represents a different door of the advent calendar. Then in a unique twist, the remarkable advent calendar will be brought to life as the fleet of treating trucks will depart to a different location across the UK every day in December for the ultimate Christmas countdown. How cool is that ?!
The new ad is directed by award winning director David Lodge. The scene is set at the home of Cadbury in Bournville, with the impressive opening spectacle showcasing a whole host of giant treats ready to fill the portable advent calendar – even Santa pops in to check everything is ready for the big day. The journey of the giant Cadbury Advent Calendar continues to the sound of the catchy theme tune taken from Thunderbirds, building anticipation and excitement. You’ll see the trucks pass through quintessential British landscapes on their quest to deliver joy to the nation before the ad culminates with a final iconic aerial shot of all the trucks in advent formation.
You will also have the chance to see the joy unfold in the real world through a series of 3 x 20 second spots which will capture the magic that lies behind the truck doors as they arrive at their destination throughout December. These will be available to view on TV, VOD and online platforms from December 5th.
