Pierre had great fun being Chief Tester of the Day yesterday. After trying out the Heinz Fruit Smoothie (that we reviewed here), he got to sample another kid-friendly snack - a bag of Annabel Karmel Cheese & Onion Rice & Corn Snacks. Having visited Disneyland Paris just a few weeks ago (you can read our guide to getting the most out of your trip and see what we thought of the 20th anniversary celebrations here), Pierre got incredibly excited when he saw the picture of Mickey Mouse on the front of the pack.
Big sister Juliette wasn't very excited about the bag but more about the contents, squealing "oooooh criiiiiiisps, can I have some ?" ! Well, they're kind of like crisps - especially as they have a savoury cheese & onion flavour - but they're a healthier option. Made with corn and rice and only one E number (caking agent which is apparently essential to keep the cheese and onion flavouring nicely spread over the snacks), they're quite a wholesome option.
This photo is Pierre doing his "I may look like a hamster but I haven't got my cheeks stuffed with snacks, honest Mum" after I told him to wait until I'd taken the photo before he started eating them ! I think that says everything you need to know about the taste - the Madhouse Mini-Testers loved them, so much so that I didn't get a look in but I did get to sniff the empty bag and they smelt nice !
A 20g bag contains just 78 calories and 1.9g of fat (of which 0.2g saturated) so they'd even be a good snack option for grown-ups trying to watch their waistline. If you can rescue them from the kids ! They're suitable for age 12 months +.
