Sometimes a new product hits the shelves and you say to yourself, "That is such a good idea and so obvious, I can't believe it hasn't been invented before now". Well, believe it or not, the latest product that made me do that was a packet of baby wipes ! Wipes manufacturers have spent a long time coming up with new formulations to get softer, more soothing, gentler and more eco-friendly wipes but nobody (to the best of my knowledge) has had a major rethink about the packaging.
Well, Asda Little Angels wipes now come with a handy little pot of nappy cream attached within the packaging - how clever is that ? Not only is it a brilliant space saver in the changing bag, it also means that - when you're out and about and trying to change a nappy in one of those awkward changing stations in public toilets - you won't have to worry about letting go of baby to rummage around for the nappy cream which has invariably dropped right to the bottom of the bag, underneath layers of clothes, snacks and nappies, because it is always right where you need it.
The idea is pure genius. There are just a couple of things I would like to see improved. Firstly, the plastic lids to close the wipes and cream aren't very good. They are awkward to close and don't seem very sturdy so I'd be worried about them coming open inside the changing bag. (I've only used them in the house as we've outgrown nappy changes on the run now - yay !). Secondly, I'd like to see a way of removing the little pot of nappy cream from the packaging so that, when you've finished the pack of wipes, you can keep any leftover cream without keeping the whole pack (although you could just cut around the plastic wipe wrapper to achieve this).
It's still a really good idea though and both the wipes and the cream are perfectly adequate products for dealing with nappy changes and nappy rash. The Little Angels range has won awards and I'm sure this product will be next in line for one because it's so innovative and just plain useful.
