Well, they didn't get the White Christmas that they were dreaming of, but they've been making up for it in the last week !
There's a road under there somewhere !
Juliette and Pierre have been fascinated by the icicles they keep pulling off the parked cars !
"Look, Mum, the water's frozen" !
Look at her feet - you can see how deep the snow is !
This is the main road that my bus should be coming down at 7am tomorrow - I'm hoping I'll be snowed in !!
We totally failed to make a snowman, or even a snowball - it's totally powdery snow that won't stick together however hard you squash it - so we used a makeshift sledge.
Our Camouflage Company bag/mat was already used as a sledge last time we got loads of snow, but this year we made a deluxe model - I added an old dog lead to the front to make it easier to pull along and we used a pushchair liner/footmuff on top to avoid getting a wet bum when you slide off the back (which is half the fun !).
If I do manage to make it into work tomorrow, I'll be cursing the snow, but today it was great fun !
If you've been getting out and about despite the snow, you might like to join in with the Country Kids from Coombe Mill link-up too (see below)
I love the sledge, it reminds me of snow when I was young and ripping up an old paddling pool which made the best sledge I have ever had!I bet you have made memories for yours there too. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ the super-duper sledge, what a fab idea. Love all the photos, they are bursting with the giggles and energy and enthusiasm that you can only have when you are young.
ReplyDeleteLove your makeshift sledge, it's brilliant! We also had snow but not seen any icicles :) (popping over from Country Kids)
ReplyDeleteGreat sledge idea - you're got quite a lot of snow by the looks of things.
ReplyDeleteLooks very cold but so much fun. :) :D
ReplyDeletewas great to see all the kids playing out at the start of the week, not appreciating the ice now though
ReplyDeleteGreat to be able to enjoy the bad weather
