Madhouse diaries : Up close to the zoo animals !

There seem to be a never-ending series of circuses passing through our town at the moment. The one that is here this weekend had bigger animals though so we headed off to the circus zoo to have a look.

There was a rather large lion who actually looked surprisingly content and serene in his cage.

Some white tigers who were pacing around looking bored.

And some regular orange tigers.

There was a horse who couldn't decide if he wanted to be a dalmatian or a zebra !

The main attraction ended up being this rather perky elephant though.

Much to the kids' delight, he kept coming over to the fence ...

... and touching their hands with his trunk !

Needless to say, we spent most of our time at this enclosure !

We did also go to see the camels. One hump or two? They had both Bactrians and Dromedaries.

Not quite sure what was the matter with this one - he seemed to have cataracts and a problem with his mouth, poor thing.

They looked very regal in all their finery, ready to go into the big top.

The white tigers started getting a bit frisky and play fighting.

So we went to stroke the zebras.

It was the perfect adventure for finishing off the school holidays.

  1. The circus zoo looks fantastic - am loving the horse confusion the most lol. I don't think my children have ever been to a circus of any variety.

  4. I can't imagine being able to stoke a zebra, I thought they had a fierce temper? The elephant looked full of character but I never feel quite right about the big cats being caged. A great opportunity to see so many zoo animals up close.

  5. I don't know this zebra/dalmatian animal, but it looks magnificent. Like Fiona said above, I also feel sad seeing the big cats caged. Your girls are very brave, touching the animals.
