MU Caterpillar Sandwich - A monster of a sandwich to keep the kids entertained

If you're a regular follower of my blog, you'll know that I love making fun food for the kids. The Madhouse Mouse Pizza and Tortoise Pittas are now legendary ! I therefore absolutely LOVE this caterpillar sandwich idea and I think it would be brilliant for kids' birthday parties or summer picnics.

Funky, family cheese brand MU has introduced a fun new way to get kids involved in preparing their own meals with new MU Patz.

MU Patz are round cheese slices made from 100% cheddar and are perfect if your little ones want to get involved in the kitchen or just fancy a delicious snack. Ideal for decorating pizzas and sandwiches, placing over hot pasta or topping mini jackets potatoes.

MU Patz are a good source of calcium and protein, 20g of MU cheese is the equivalent to one glass of milk*. And what's more, they're completely natural - each tasty disc is 100% MU medium cheddar, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives added. Whether you're looking to chase away rainy days or find activities to fill the time, get the kids together in the kitchen and have a go at these delicious and fun to make recipes:

MU Caterpillar Sandwich

Makes 1

Ingredients

1 loaf of brown bread
1 apple
2 olives (eyes)
½ cucumber (feet)
½ vanilla pod (for the ears)

Egg mayonnaise/Ham
Lettuce leaf for the caterpillar to eat

Method

1. Make sandwiches from the egg mayonnaise and layer with a MU Patz slice (your favourite fillings can also be used other than egg mayonaise)

2. Cut them out with a round cutter (this will make the body of the caterpillar)

3. Cut the cucumber into ¼ slices (this will make the legs)

4. Cut the apple in half from top to bottom and decorate with a smiley face using vanilla pods, olives and red pepper

5. Arrange the cut sandwiches on a plate and then place the cucumber legs at the base of each sandwich

6. Finish with the face and a garnish of lettuce
