Kids' app review : Kate & Mim-Mim - Funny Bunny Fun

Have you discovered Kate & Mim-Mim on CBeebies yet? We hadn't actually, so when I was offered the chance to review the new Kate & Mim-Mim kids' app, I went to investigate. The series is aimed at 2-5 year olds and follows the adventures of Kate, an imaginative little girl who, together with her toy rabbit Mim-Mim, travels to the fantasy world of Mimiloo where Mim-Mim comes alive as a larger-than-life big bunny buddy. Pierre was convinced that it was the little girl from Monsters Inc and I must admit, she does look very similar!

The colourful world of Mimiloo offers three activities : an arcade style game, memory game and colouring sheets that have been designed to promote early learning skills.

The Colouring with Kate activity is a classic colouring app. You can choose between ten different pictures and have different tools and a wide palette of colours at your disposal. Unlike some colouring apps where you just have to tap the area for it to be filled in, you actually have to move your finger over the surface for it to be coloured so it is more realistic. It won't let you go over the edges though so even very young children will be able to create pretty pictures.

Mim-Mim Memory has three different levels and features the characters from the show.

The Pop! Pop! Peaches game requires you to move left and right to catch the peaches as they fall.

You also have to avoid certain objects and there are also random “surprise” items to catch.

To celebrate the app's Easter release, for a limited period, it will include a number of Easter-themed treats and items within the games and colouring pages.

Even without knowing the TV programme, the app appealed to Pierre and Juliette. They enjoyed playing with all three activities but it was the Pop! Pop! Peaches game that they came back to most frequently. I'm not sure how much longer they will want to play with the app though, because it does get quite repetitive after a while.
