This week's assault on my cooking sachet stash began in earnest today with tonight's dinner - Tuscan Sausage using a Maggi So Juicy sachet. The pack suggests using the contents with 6 sausages, a large red onion, 2 carrots and a tin of butter beans.
You mix the contents of the sachet with water before adding it, along with the other ingredients, to the ovenproof bag.
We're not big on butter beans so I originally planned to use chick peas, but they got used up in our Chick-Chick Soup last week, so I opted for a can of baked beans instead.
After 45 minutes in the oven, the result was a wonderfully thick and rich sausage and bean casserole. It reminded me very much of the sausage and bean casserole that I make in the slow cooker but it was a much quicker version and the cooking bag meant that washing up was a breeze !
I originally planned on serving this with mash or boiled potatoes, but it was perfect as an all-in-one meal and didn't need anything else. Fab winter comfort food.
