Ben 10 Kevin's Car Construction Set  !

As soon as I poured out the contents of the box, I noticed that there was one tiny loose piece (that you can see in the bottom left hand corner) that pinged across the floor so be very careful ! I have no idea if this piece was a rogue bit that should have been in a bag or if one of the bags had a small hole (but I couldn't see one) but it's best to keep your eyes open to avoid sucking it up in the vacuum cleaner or throwing it away with the oodles of wrapping paper and boxes that Christmas morning inevitably generates!

The kit reminded me very much of the Dr Who Dalek Spaceship construction set that Sophie recently had a lot of fun (and a bit of frustration !) making, which makes perfect sense as it's from the same company - Character Building. I'm impressed with the way they manage to create a construction set that really does look like it belongs in the TV universe that it's supposed to represent.

Kevin's Car is certainly less challenging than the Dalek Spaceship set, but I do wonder if it would still be a bit ambitious for the age group of most Ben 10 viewers. The 5+ age range still seems a bit overly optimistic to me. It looks like the perfect Boxing Day project for dads to get involved in with their kids though !

This is just one of the kits from the Ben 10 range, which also includes a fully functional Azmuth's Laboratory with 430 bricks. The complete range contains eight micro-figures for you to collect, including Ben and popular aliens such as Big Chill, Water Hazard and Ultimate Swampfire. Plenty to keep little Ben 10 fans' Christmas and birthday lists well stocked for a while there then !
