Lindt recently sent me through some of their "Hello" range of chocolates to sample. We received the delicious-sounding Crunchy Nougat and Strawberry Cheesecake sharing bars and a Caramel Brownie treat bar. Oooh, my mouth was watering already !
The inside of the cardboard sleeve presents the whole range. Four flavours - Cookies & Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake, Caramel Brownie and Crunchy Nougat - and a variety of formats including "Thank you" gift boxes, as well as the bars that we received.
Without further ado, on to the taste testing. Before we'd even popped the first square into our mouths, we were smiling when we saw the cute "hello" and "nice to sweet you" messages printed on the chocolate !
We started off with the Strawberry Cheesecake flavoured bar which is utterly delicious. It has a delicate, sweet creamy strawberry flavour which perfectly complements the smooth milk chocolate. It reminds me a bit of strawberry creme chocolates in Quality Street (or is it Roses?) but less syrupy sweet and artificial tasting. Lovely, and definitely my favourite.
On to the next flavour - Crunchy Nougat. This also got a unanimous thumbs up, but it wasn't quite so original, reminding me of something else - a less nutty version of Toblerone maybe? It is still very nice though.
And finally, the Caramel Brownie treat bar. The first problem with this one was that it had got squished in transit and the caramel had oozed out so the packaging was very sticky and some of the squares were pretty much empty of caramel. It was nice but was a bit too sweet for my liking - I think this one would get too sickly if I ate the whole bar.
We all really loved the range and will be looking out for the other flavours to try. The bars contain 30% minimum cocoa solids and 14% minimum milk solids, so if you like really rich, dark chocolate, these probably won't be your thing. Most regular, high-street chocolate fans will love them though.
100g of chocolate (which is the size of one of the sharing Hello bars - the treat bars weigh 39g) provides 550 calories (slightly more or less depending on the variety), 35g of fat (of which 17g saturates), 51g of carbs (of which 49g sugars) and 8.5g of protein. As each bar is made up of 10 squares, you don't need to be a mathematical genius to work out that each square will count for 55 calories, so be warned, that soon mounts up !
As an occasional treat, they're lovely though.

They all look so good! Especially the caramel brownie. I need to try these.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few of those bars recently, and found them way too sweet, and we are fans of Lindt. I also bought a little tin of chocolates, and they were fine, but nothing special. I much prefer their truffles and old-er bars.
