Katy's Kettle Corn Popchips review

I've reviewed Popchips before - the original selection of original, barbecue, salt & pepper, sea salt & vinegar and sour cream & onion in our first review then their new Thai Sweet Chilli flavour earlier this year. I have to admit, I was still slightly dubious when they asked if we'd like to review their newest addition to the range though - a sweet and salty flavour. This seems to be the big new trend at the moment - you may remember we reviewed Cadbury's Crunchums last week which are a strange but rather moreish sweet/salty combination of maize snacks covered in chocolate !

Sophie immediately spotted the mention of Katy Perry though, and I no longer had any choice in the matter - we had to try them ! Yes, you read that right - this new variety is called Katy’s Kettle Corn and has been created by global super star Katy Perry !

The Madhouse Mini-testers excitedly squealed "oooh they look like brains" as they tucked in ! They taste a bit like popcorn with a definite saltiness then sweetness coming through right behind it. My brain is still telling me that this combination shouldn't work but my hand keeps putting more of them in my mouth !

Sophie loves the little message from Katy Perry on the back of the pack : "It started with a late night craving and a bag of popchips. It was love at first bite. Super tasty and less than half the fat of fried crisps. What's not to love? So I jumped at the chance to create my own flavour. Katy's Kettle Corn is deliciously sweet and salty. It's only a sin if you don't share it".

Whether or not you're a fan of Katy Perry, they're definitely worth a try though. Each bag (about 22 chips) contains 128 calories, 3.9g of fat (of which 0.3g saturates), 0.32g of salt and 2.8g of sugars, so they're a pretty healthy snack option.

If you're still unsure, you might like to try to win yourself a bag in the Katy Perry Popchips competition (http://www.popchips.co.uk/kkccompetition/) but you'll have to hurry up because it's only open until the end of the month !
