I spent all of Friday stuck indoors with sick children and an endless pile of washing so I was delighted to see that the warm weather lasted for the whole weekend. It was the "Week of the Sea" festivities which meant that there lots of nautical-themed activities going on for the kids to enjoy.
I'd been planning on an afternoon of geocaching so we made a compromise and I found a couple of caches to look for en route !
The first one was right down the end of the promenade in the fishing harbour with a fab view of the lighthouse.
We headed back to the maritime festival just in time to see the giant pirate and his wife wandering around.
All three of the Madhouse kids wanted to have a go on the bungee-trampolines - Pierre was too small last year so he was delighted to be allowed on this year.
Boing !
Bigger boing !
I think the smiles say it all - they loved it !
I was glad I remembered to slather on the sun cream and grab hats before we went out - there were some very sunburnt faces and arms on view as we wandered around.
Time for a slightly calmer activity - the little waterwheel boats that ended up being used like bumper cars !
Another quick bit of geocaching on the way home - it's unbelievable the number of times I've walked straight past this area without ever noticing the memorial !
Just time for a little rest on the giant wooden chair by the canal.
Sophie really looks tiny in this photo !
A lovely day of fun in the sun for everyone - here's to hoping it's the first of many !
As an added bonus, according to the pedometer, we racked up 13677 steps, burned 357 calories and covered 6.83km.

ReplyDeleteI was pleased the kids recovered quickly and the weather held :)
DeleteBeautiful photos of beautiful people! Is that a pirate in a skirt, or a wife with a beard a la Eurovision winner?
ReplyDeleteLOL It could be either ! Seriously though, the skirt part is a wicker framework covered in material hiding people inside who carry it along on their shoulders :)
DeleteGlad the children are better and you got out. Nice that you could enjoy some caching while allowing the children to do what they want. That must be a big chair, the children look tiny. It is amazing with this hobby how you suddenly start seeing things that you have walked past and never really looked at before.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you are logging your mileage as well.
Thank you for linking up.
