Drumond Park have done it again and provided The Madhouse with lots of giggles ! This time, they sent through their Don't Laugh! game for us to try out. The game targets slightly older players, aged about 8 upwards - basically, you need to be able to read and understand humour - and 2 to 4 players can play together.
Gameplay centres around a pack of joke cards, some featuring oldies but goodies and some so corny they'll make you groan ! If you want a random selection :
“What do elves do after school?” “Gnomework!”
“What kind of fish can’t swim?” “Dead Ones!”
Why is Cinderella a poor Football player?” “Because she had a pumpkin for a coach!”
I did warn you !!
Luckily, players get a little extra help in making their opponents laugh - a prop electronic microphone which makes silly noises including a funny laugh and ... wait for it ... a fart noise ! This proved to be the main attraction and had the Madhouse Mini-testers in hysterics.
As (almost) 5-year-old Pierre wanted to join in the fun and merriment and he can't read yet, we ended up giving up with the board and the jokes altogether (we'll bring those out next time it's just the older players taking part) and just tried to make each other laugh with the silly noises instead !
Their gleeful giggles were totally infectious and we all ended up having a good laugh, making this the perfect game to bring out to ward off squabbles or tantrums or just to brighten up a dull afternoon !
Look out for my giveaway coming right up in the next post where you can win the game.
