Making the most of the glorious weather last weekend, we headed off for a spot of geocaching in a local wooded park. The walk started off going past a field with some very friendly sheep that we stood and baahed at for a while (as you do !), then the Madhouse Mini-explorers got very excited to see a frog hopping about and some very pretty neon blue dragonflies.
Pierre makes me laugh with the geocaching because he kept stopping at all the mouse and rabbit holes, excitedly saying "LOOK ! There might be some geocaching in here" !
Aha that's where it was hiding - up a tree !
There's another geoache hiding behind one of these trees under a pile of rocks but Pierre and Juliette had more fun playing with sticks in the horse trough while we retrieved it !
The kids couldn't get their head around the trees being fenced in.
Nature's playground.
We had a look for fish in the stream and didn't see any at all, despite a lot of people fishing a bit further along. Not that any of them caught anything while we were walking past so maybe there aren't any !
Pierre went rabbit-hunting with a stick instead !
There was a collective whoop of excitement when we discovered the fitness trail !
"Look at me, Mum, I'm a big boy !"
What made me laugh here was that on the other identical piece of equipment just next to it were two sporty young men doing pull-ups seriously !
I bet we had more fun though !
Another bit of searching in the undergrowth for some geocaches !
Before giving up and going back to the fitness trail instead.
How much fun can you have with a plank of wood ?!
This is Pierre copying the pull-ups that the guys were doing earlier !
"Looook Mum, it's a fairy village" !
A shady wood and some family fun in the fresh air - what more could you ask for?

I love the fairy village, and its great that Pierre sees every potential hole as a cache hiding place, a true geocacher.
ReplyDeleteThese fitness trails offer great fun for the children, we had one but it was removed by the new owners when the estate was bought over
Glad the planks of wood offered lots of enjoyment.
