If you were a child of the seventies and eighties, you probably spent hours playing with a Spirograph. These days, everybody talks about mandalas, which are a similar idea really. This nifty piece of equipment allows you to create very impressive, symmetrical patterns using the circular stencil disc.
The plastic base keeps everything firmly in place as you create your design - you have a choice of templates, from hearts and balloons to appealing Peppa Pig pictures that are guaranteed to appeal to any little fan.
The suggested age range is 4+ which sounded very ambitious to me, but it is feasible, if you sit down and supervise and give a few words of encouragement and advice. You can make the designs as simple or as complex as you want so it's a toy that can "grow" with your child.
If you get out your colouring pens and pencils, you can actually create some really impressive, pretty designs which could be put up on the wall or used to decorate books or cards.
It's a simple activity that can produce some really impressive designs that your little artist will be proud of. Teens and tweens (oh ok, I'll admit it, even adults !) will also enjoy picking up a pencil and having a little play too ! As well as being a great creative activity, it's also good for practising fine motor skills.
The kit contains everything you need to get started - the mandala station, paper, a pen and three coloured pencils - but you will need to add extra paper, pens and pencils, especially once your mini artists find their feet and want to create more complex designs.
