Kids' app review : Tilly & Friends

You may know Tilly & Friends from the series of picture books by author/illustrator Polly Dunbar or from the CBeebies TV programmes, but either way, or even if you're totally unaware of the cute little girl and her friends Doodle, Tumpty, Pru, Tiptoe and Hector, you're bound to fall in love with the beautiful new app featuring Tilly.

The app has great visual appeal, using cute illustrations and muted pastel colours along with sounds and music from the show. In terms of gameplay, the app is packed with content - a whopping 32 mini games, each of which has three levels of difficulty that progress as your child plays.

There are a nice mix of educational and action games, including  Matching Tilly, Stop Tiptoe, Spell my Name, Where’s Tilly?, Catching Fruit, ABC, Shape Fitting, Odd One Out, Sorting Colours and Number Spelling. All of the games have pictorial and spoken instructions, but they're all simple enough for 4-year-old Pierre to work out what to do all by himself.

The games are selected randomly which prevents it from getting boring or predictable. Pierre (and also big sister Juliette) have been having great fun playing it and keep coming back to it when they turn on the ipad. It's a lovely app for preschoolers.
