Tiddley Pom Natural Baby Spa - Organic Nappy Balm

Tiddley Pom is marketed as a Natural Baby Spa range, which is quite a unique concept. The packaging explains that for optimal results, you should use four core products from the range to combine the effects of "Sound, Smell and Touch - The Essence of Spa". Step one is a warm bath with Tiddley Pom's Organic Baby Wash, step two is a massage with their Organic Massage Oil, step three is the Soothing Lotion and step four is their Organic Nappy Balm. They explain on the box that after using all four products, "Both Mother and Baby should be relaxed and cosy, a perfect end to a perfect day with Tiddley Pom products". Hmmmm sounds like bliss !

We received the step four Organic Nappy Balm to test and, even without the other three steps, I still think it's lovely. Even before it's been opened, the product looks luxurious and calming, with its pale colours, silver lettering and dreamy dragonflies flitting across the box. I do have one very slight criticism - I always think a pot inside a box screams excess packaging, particularly when the pot also has an inner seal to protect the product. I know it's more hygienic but not all brands use them so I always wonder if they're really indispensible.

But on to the product itself. Just reading the box instantly tells you that this will be a high quality, natural product that will nourish your baby's skin without using any harmful chemicals. It is described as "Organic Shea Butter with Organic English Lavender and English Chamomile Oils". Having already come across these oils before in other baby products, I know that they are great for soothing baby's skin but also his mind. And that's good news for helping him find his way calmly to the Land of Nod.

As its main ingredient is shea butter, the balm does feel quite greasy - almost like melted butter - when you scoop some out on your finger. I was worried this greasiness would linger on the skin but it doesn't. I was actually amazed at how well it is absorbed. It's lovely and soft and easy to rub in and it really helped calm down the redness that Pierre's teething was causing. The balm is delicately fragranced with a smell that is relaxing and not at all overpowering.

The box says that Tiddley Pom is "created by experts, approved by professionals and recommended by mums" and I can certainly add my voice to that endorsement. The fact that it is stocked at Harrod's also speaks volumes. Give a little luxury to your baby's bottom !

I do have one complaint though - every time I see the name Tiddley Pom, it makes me hum "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" for the rest of the day !
