On July 29th (just as we were heading off to Morocco - it seems so long ago already !), a brand new Chuggington DVD was released and Pierre was very happy to receive a copy to review. Called "Chugger of the Year”, the DVD features seven action-packed episodes : 'Hoot vs Toot', 'Stop the Press Emery', 'Babysitter Brewster', 'Chugger of the Year', 'Chug of War', 'Gold Wheels' and 'Chug o Flage'.
These episodes follow the adventures and mishaps of trainee engines Brewster, Koko, Wilson, Hoot and Toot, as well as the rest of the Chuggington crew, learning valuable lessons and skills, empowering them to become the best trainees they can be (and giving little viewers some important life lessons along the way).
The official blurb says : "As Koko does all she can to try to be Chugger of the Year, Wilson learns the value of teamwork, Brewster’s turntable lessons prove useful and Hoot discovers why Toot is getting her deliveries wrong. Meanwhile, there’s more traintastic excitement as Emery tries to make the front page of the Chuggington Gazette, Wilson’s camouflage is scarily good and Hoot and Toot get too greedy for Vee’s Golden Wheel awards."
Pierre loved watching the DVD - each episode lasts about ten minutes which is the perfect length - but was also over the moon to discover that it came with a die-cast Speedy McAllister toy train. Just a word of warning - it's metal and quite clunky. As Madhouse Nan & Grandad's dog discovered when it tried to chew it and ended up with a cut gum and blood pouring everywhere ! (Don't worry, he was OK !) It's definitely not one to be thrown about though so make sure very young viewers are aware that it can be a bit dangerous or keep it out of their way until they're a bit older !
The new Chuggington series started on CBeebies a few weeks ago on 26th August, so if you have a new Chuggington fan who's just discovered the series, “Chugger of the Year” is a great chance to catch up on some of the earlier episodes.
